What is the RSA Token?

The RSA token is a secure token that is used to verify your identity of who you are in a secure manner. There are two different types of tokens. Soft Token and Hard Token.


Soft Token: The soft token is a software based secure token (such as an app) that allows you to authenticate to the RSA server to allow your account access to the lvvwd corporate network.


Hard Token: The hard token is a hardware device that is used in the same manner as the soft token, but only on a piece of hardware device distributed to the user via the lvvwd inter-office mail system.

Importing

Importing the RSA Soft Token is how the RSA SecurID knows what token is assigned to you as an individual. In conjunction with your Username and PIN (Personal Identification Number) the RSA SecurID Application combines all the information together to verify who you are to continue the secure network integrity.


Once you receive your soft token via email from the Network & Systems Administration Team, you will be able to begin the importing process. The first thing that MUST be completed is that the RSA SecurID Application must be downloaded and installed on a mobile device. Please refer to the “Downloading and Installing RSA SecurID Application” of this guide for more information.


Downloading and Installing RSA SecurID Application

iPhone/iPad

  1. Download and Install RSA SecurID onto your choice of mobile device, iPhone/iPad, from the app store
  2. Open the initial RSA Token Email sent to you by the RSA Team * NOTE * Using the Microsoft Outlook Portal does NOT work when importing the token, it can cause token import failures as well as corrupt the soft token.
    1. At the bottom of the email, you will see the attachment. You will need to “quick press” the file.
    2. Once you quick press the attachment, you will come to a menu.
      1. Filename – File size
      2. Send in message (Shows most recent persons)
      3. Open in application 1. Look for the RSA - Copy to Token (or “More” option)

Android Device

  1. Download and Install RSA SecurID onto your mobile device from the google play store.
  2. Open the initial RSA Token Email send to you by the RSA Team *** Note *** Using the Microsoft Outlook Portal does not work when importing the token, it can cause token import failures as well as corrupt the soft token. 
    • Quick tap on the attachment and import is automatic

RSA SecurID Application

Pin Setup

Setting the PIN (Personal Identification Number) will be setup with the JanusWeb User Console. There are two ways to reach this console, and it’s purely dependent on the type of system you are using. If you are using a district issued system, please go to (https://janus.lvvwd.com) otherwise please go to (https://janusweb.lvvwd.com) and follow the instructions below on setting your PIN.

  1. Input your username into the User ID field of the website.
  2. Passcode input
    1. Open your RSA token application
    2. * DO NOT INPUT ANYTHING INTO THE FIELD THAT APPEARS *
    3. Press the arrow to the right of the input field d. RSA Token Application created eight (8) digit number, this is the “passcode” required for the Janus website input field. * NOTE * If you have less than 15 seconds left on the new eight (8) digit code, please let that number expire, a new eight (8) digit code will generate automatically.
  3. Pin input: There are only three restrictions for the PIN.
    1. Cannot begin with a zero (0)
    2. Cannot contain four (4) consecutive numbers (IE: 1234, 2345, 3456, 6789)
    3. MUST be eight (8) digits long, no more, no less
  4. Renew Pin

  5. Next Tokencode
    1. iPhone/iPad: Press the button at the bottom right of the screen, second to the last icon. This will generate another eight (8) digit code with a blue background. This is known as the “next token code”
    2. Android: Press the button on the bottom right side of the application, the button entitled as “Next Code”. This will generate another eight (8) digit code with a blue background.
