- Don't download copyrighted movies or videos.
- Do not respond to or forward spam, or open suspicious attachments.
- Lock up expensive equipment such as laptops and digital cameras when not in use.
- Coordinate all software installations through Information Technology to prevent the spread of viruses and malicious software.
- For more details, see the Acceptable Use of Technology Resources Policy - AP6.
Power saving
Employees can save the organization thousands of dollars each month on power costs by following these simple tips:
-
Shut down your computer to save power. If IT needs to access your computer to perform security and maintenance updates, they can remotely turn it on. Unless you will be connecting to your desktop remotely (from home or offsite), it is best to fully shut down your computer at the end of your work day.
Do this by selecting Shut down under the Power option in the main Windows menu. DO NOT TURN OFF YOUR POWER STRIP OR UNPLUG YOUR COMPUTER FROM THE OUTLET. Turn off your monitor(s) before you leave for the day.
